11/11/2012 - Started Canopy Frame construction

Time to make all those parts for the canopy frame....

Well technically speaking the first parts I made were the rudder stops and the anchor bracket/elevator horn stop.  I had originally bought the delrin rudder stop block that fitted inside the rudder attach bracket as I thought this would be aesthetically pleasing.  Ethans web site shows what this looks like Ethans Rudder Stop

However I read an article about how this could present very different forces on the rudder if indeed the stop block came into use.  So I decided to stick to the plans and produce the aluminium ones.  The elevator stop is a second attempt as I cut the original a bit fine when it comes to edge spacing hence Mark 2.

Next up, I fabricated the brackets that will fix the roll bar to the fuselage.

second set

3 angle pieces to attach stringers and ribs etc.  Btw reducing the 90 degree angle by a few degrees does not take much of a hit with a block and hammer...the on in the picture is mark 2 as well !

Joining plates, marked up and drilled as per the plans

Complete set !  I enjoyed the few hours it took to build these, and the parts are ready for the construction of the roll bar / canopy frame.
